The Silicon Valley Historical Association is now undertaking an ambitious project to contextualize Silicon Valley internationally. We will be interviewing educators, policy makers, venture capitalists, and company founders in an attempt to document how different countries have observed and recreated Silicon Valley in their own image.

It is through this documentation that we hope to uncover just how these countries are faring in their pursuit of emulation. Does their imitation pale in comparison to the original? Will it one day surpass Silicon Valley? Are there places where this has already happened? That is what we hope to find out.

About the project director:

Robert McLaughlin has been with the association for over a decade and has conducted dozens of interviews in his time. He will be traveling to Japan to interview and document the people and businesses of Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Kyoto.
